A family château by the sea

This charming property dates from the 16th and 18th centuries and has an exceptional location by the sea. You’ll be welcomed into comfortable guest rooms with period furniture and tasteful décor.

“Being able to find joy in the joy of others is the secret to happiness”, Georges Bernanos.

You’re bound to appreciate the authenticity of this French family château, along with its soul, its history, its cosy rooms with designer fabrics, splendid embroidered sheets and romantic feel,  and indeed many French authors would meet up here in the 19th century, to enjoy the château’s relaxing and restful atmosphere.

Our family lives here all year round, carefully overseeing the maintenance and upkeep of the 15-hectare parkland where you can stroll towards the sea, head out on a canoe at high tide, take an afternoon nap in a sun-lounger, or even enjoy an al fresco breakfast on warmer mornings. There are several restaurants within a short walk, either along the coast, or through our beautiful palm-tree avenue. We are on hand to advise good places to dine at reasonable prices.

In the grounds there are also two separate holiday homes, which are available as holiday lets. One house sleeps 6 to 8 guests (150m²) and the other sleeps 4 guests (around 70m²). Both can be rented for a week or a fortnight.

All along the grounds, the coastal path leads you along beautiful seaside walks, while those you prefer can stay on site and play tennis.

There is a golf course, sailing centre and horse-riding all within 6 kilometres.

If you’d like to explore, there are numerous sites to visit, including Les Ebihens offshore St Jacut (10 minutes by car), Dinard, St Briac 15 minutes away, the corsair town of St Malo 20 minutes away, and the iconic Mont St Michel within an hour’s drive. To the west, you have the seaside resort of St Cast le Guildo 10 minutes away, Cap Fréhel and le Fort Lalatte 25 minutes away, Erquy 30 minutes away, Lamballe with its horses and stud farm 30 minutes away and the Pink Granite Coast about 90 minutes away by car. Finally, to the south, the splendid medieval town of Dinan is only 25 minutes away.

In other words, there is no shortage of things to distract and entertain you when you stay with us!

We are also on hand to help at breakfast time to advise you on trips and excursions, or even lend guide books, so you can make the most of your stay.

Welcome to the Château du Val d’Arguenon, where you’ll enjoy a relaxing and re-energising holiday in Brittany, in a home that is truly full of spirit and character!
